Located on the Northern Shores of Lake Michigan, Escanaba and Gladstone are situated on Little Bay de Noc. Although the water is part of Lake Michigan, which can get quite rough, the geography of the lakeshore provide an area that is very protected from the swell and waves. This protected, relatively calm water combined with the shallow shoreline create a kiteboarding paradise. The same shoreline that protects the Bay from waves also acts as a funnel as the Warm South winds travel across the lake, providing consistent wind throughout the year. The unique shape of the shoreline also allows for kiteboarding on almost any wind direction within a 10 minute drive.
